Hair Fair 2016 – Iconic

Mag Iconic Hair Fair 2016

Iconic has been a part of Hair Fair for many years now, I still remember tping over to her store to check it out when applications rolled around. Speaking to her the first time with such passion for creating hair, and she has held true to that joy and excitement ever since.

These styles vary in style type and are such a great collection of work. My firm favourite would have to be the pigtails style, it definitely rings true for summery days and time spent in your favourite bikini. That being lately this gorgeously sparkly one by Mon Cheri that Mel bought me as a gift last a few weeks ago, and the detailing is fantastic.

All the styles in the Iconic booth are marvelous, they are in the Backlot Central sim, and she was such an early bird setting up and rearing to go, I bet we could have gotten five more styles out of her if allowed.

Hair Fair 2016 – LeLutka

Mag LeLutka Hair Fair 2016

Hair Fair 2016 is in full shop until you drop mode. All great stores with wonderful styles all donation a portion to Wigs for Kids, making it beneficial shopping, what every Fashionista wants in their day.

These styles are by LeLutka, a new Nova colour system, new textures new options and a super easy HUD. There is also a gift hair in the booth so you can learn what your new colour pack is going to be…my favourite flavour is Fatpack!

I was able to spend some time looking at lovely Collabor88 pieces, this dress you see part of is a lovely strapless number by Baiastice, I love the waist cutouts and the print options, so summery, so perfect.

Hair Fair 2016

It has been years now for me being part of Hair Fair. I started in 2007 by contacting its Founder Six Kennedy, with an idea for Bandana Day…she liked the idea and told me to organise it (my bestie Fiachra Lach helped me build the bandana based off of one that Elikapeka designed for a hair she had at ETD and she gave us permission to copy it prim by prim) and next thing I knew I was part of the Hair Fair committee. I spent every day there, watched all the shopping, heard all the yelling, and observed this incredible event. Nearly every single thing we do today is derived from the observations I made that year, and things we have learned along the way.

When you have an event as big as this one, you have to consider a lot of things, such as how many people you will be able to fit into the sims, to make shopping possible. How many sims you need to make it possible to keep the flow working. How many textures you use, how much mesh now that we have it, how unique each piece is and so on. With the need of so much repetition, it can be difficult,  and this years theme was possible more so because repetition is part of its dynamic.

Some worked out it was a Movie set, and it is definitely that, but which movie set? I have wanted to do this theme for easily 6 years now, but it was not possible before mesh, and it did not come together until this year and I am so glad it did. Edward Scissorhands for me is the perfectly adorable Hair Movie, not your usual thoughts on the film I am sure, but for some reason, I tend to always think of it that way. With the skills of Mel Vanbeeck and Whimsy Winx – the other members of the Hair Fair Committee of whom we could not do this event without – this years build and the event itself has all come together so perfectly, we are so happy to be able to do this for the community each year, and for Wigs for Kids.

We hope you all enjoy it, and get the chance to look around and enjoy the build too – Mel and I had a hoot setting up the topiaries into fun little stories, and Whimsy created the scenes that show you that behind the scenes in a movie lot, it takes a village to get things done so her before and after planter areas are fun.

Enjoy the insides of the booths too because the stores have definitely gone all out there this year too. This is their time, their event, the way they showcase their styles and brands and let you see inside the Hair creators community, and it is always such an amazing thing to be part of that , while at the same time giving to an amazing charity like Wigs for Kids.

If you want to see all the great styles at this event visit the website HERE.

Time Out

Waiting//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

It is one of those posts where I am flat out, with Hair Fair just on the Horizon and I decided to take a time out for myself for a moment…and stop being invisible just to not have to find something to wear (we have all been there, and body huds make that so much quicker). I saw these beautiful pieces and they are definitely a match made wherever you think matches are made.

The maxi dress is light, long and just romantic enough to work as day casual or first date night wear. Slipping into some beautiful bow adorned strappy stilettos by Ingenue, and all I need now is my date, but with timezones as pushed as they are between us, it may be a long wait. Mind you our date today when we do catch up will be a whole lot of Hair Fair organising speak, with Whimsy in the mix as well.

This whole look is perfect for adding some of the lovely jewelery pieces by Minimal. Gold pieces this time, though you can get silver, but I was feeling the warmer tones tonight. Finishing the look off with some beautifully braided back hair from Beusy, that I find just wrapped up the whole look.

Whimsy and I went running around again the other day and of all things went to find a garden hose and ended up with a few houses, a chair and some other bits and pieces. This is one of the builds she picked up, but it has been sitting in our studio space all week, so I commandeered it.

Silly Search – A Second Life dilemma

Ok so over the years things happen, I get all bent out of shape, and think ” I will do a post on that in the future” and It gets pushed to the side for other things. I want that not to happen anymore, because if it helps one person fix something, that is my want.

So Bandana kits went out the other day, you can get info on that HERE. I got an IM from two great and awesome people, that found they could not find CharitySasy String (the account you need to send them to) in search. I myself using Firestorm Viewer, can see me in search, profile is checked accordingly, so this was strange.

One mentioned ‘web-search’ which I never use, I stick with People, Places etc, because for me it gives more specific answers. So I check web-search and sure enough, no CharitySasy String. How does one work and the other not. I had everything selected, so I search with web-search just using PEOPLE, no dice. I then speak to the other marvelous person , and they said that they only use People but in the SL viewer it is all on the same page, unlike the Firestorm how I have it set up.

I did more thinking on this and decided to log in SL Viewer and see if ‘show in search is somehow not checked there’ that would make me mental. I log in, cannot find the place it is located, as in firestorm has it on profile itself. I use my SL powers and find it eventually in Preferences. It is as I knew, checked. I think about SL and its many quirks, and toggle it off again and then back on, hit apply.

Preferences

BINGO! CharitySasy String now appears in web-search firestorm and all searches appropriate in SL Viewer. So the moral to this story is, that selections can it seems go stale, and sometimes you have to go to the SL Viewer and just toggle your bits for a moment and set everything back up.

I hope if you have similar search issues, that this helps.

The theme for this round of Collabor88 is Crisp and Clean….the items that have been created for such a them are divine. One of my favourites is this dress by Tres Blah. The Celine dress is a beautifully structured mesh dress, with the strapless majority of the dress overlaying the sleeveless collared shirt underneath. A layered look without the fuss of actually layering.

I went with the leather look, which is so sexy and just hugs your buttocks so well. The perfect accompaniment to the Kubi Sandals by Baiastice, also a C88 item. The straps and height of the shoe leave nothing to the imagination of what your plans are for the evening.

I popped on over to The Arcade the other day with Whimsy, I have been a little busy lately so did not get over sooner. I shopped enough for a few people at least, and got these amazing pieces from .a. Karishma that are just gorgeous piercings and accessories. I completely hit the jackpot that four of my five goes were all silver, my metal of choice, Whimsy got the gold necklace I won. I was so happy. The hair bindi, fit the style from enVogue perfectly, this hair style is called Whitney and though you cannot see it, it is a lovely braid that flows down the back.

I am standing in the doorway of the Manor by Scarlet Creative that is also at this round of C88, which is a beautiful country style home, and the furniture is pieces by Concept, I am in love with that lamp, and the sofa is delicious. The sturdy natural wood look, with the exposed beams in the home, all meld together perfectly.
